I mean, they didn't really. Bo was hurt today, and they aggressively play matchups to avoid Varsho or Barger against a lefty.
Yesterday they probably could have plated Kirk, with a day off before and after the series you'd think 3 in a row was OK. I don't know why they avoid using the bench late, it was practically criminal yesterday to let IKF and Gimenez bat when you have France and Schneider on the bench. Today it would have been nice to have a better hitter than Straw.

Really the problem is that the bench is just not ideal. Not enough guys you trust to be more than a platoon bat means you get caught up without an option late.

Meh. If any version of the Yankees is setting themselves up to blow it, it’s this year’s.

Meanwhile this is the best Jays team since 2015. Even if they have to play a wildcard series, they’ll have an actual chance for the first time since playoff expansion.

I think they’ll win the division but even if not they’re a lock for the playoffs which is a far cry from previous years.
 
If we came this far only to drop to a one game playoff in the wildcard in the final days of the season, then fuck this all to hell.

Wildcard series is best of 3. Probably feels like a one-game playoff because the Jays have lost every single wildcard game since 2016 (Encarnacion walkoff against Ubaldo and the Orioles)

Fuck, it really does. I'm getting all my MLB rules and info jumbled. I knew this obviously, but heard something recently about a one game playoff and that got stuck in my head. Maybe it was for a wildcard tiebreaker.
