It's a little like that random Pirates play a few years ago where Baez I think it was got into a rundown between home and first. The whole defense just forgot that they could throw to first and step on the base. It's painful though to have that be the play that ends your season. I'm sure for the next 3 months he'll wake up like once a week replaying that in his head in slow motion.

Season is over with each one. The magnitude of it isn’t as high but it is the worst play they’ve ever seen in franchise history, much worse than getting burned fair and square by a legit big hitter.

Williams just lost. This guy literally threw the season away.

I think youll find most humans will find a contrite player who had a brain fart more sympathetic than an arrogant clown who cant pitch well.

And again, losing in the ALDS and World Series are way way way different things.
 
I don’t really care how the fans react. We know there will be sane ones mostly, and we also know there will be a lot of nutjobs reacting in less than sane ways.

I just feel for the guy. Even if everyone in the world is perfectly sympathetic and nice to him, that is the kind of thing that will fuck up your head and life as a pro athlete.
 
Detroit has been more than the sum of their parts this year (well, for most of the year), and Seattle has been less than the sum of theirs.....but on paper Seattle is pretty scary. Scarier than the Yankees were imo.

The top line is pretty convincing by itself, but also the Tigers have that splits weakness built into what otherwise looks like a deepish lineup. The Mariners don't have an obvious split weakness and have a better ability to hide any split weakness in a way that doesn't let us run a lefty against multiple guys in a row who can't hit them, etc.
 
I think we have a shot, and a good one against either team

2015/2016 when we faced the Ned Yost Royals and fucking MVP Alcildes Escobar and Eric fucking Hosmer and the CLeveland team with Bauer getting injured when a date sent a drone after him, and the quaking in his boots muppet has taught me to not take anyone in playoff baseball lightly. Anything can happen.

However, since the deadline i have thought the Mariners were the best team in the AL.

Loved their moves, love their pen, and their SP is rock solid when healthy.
 
Ernie just had a 1.554 OPS against the Yankees. Pat Borders was world series MVP for us for one of the championships.

Yep. Anything can happen in a short series.
 
I agree Seattle is better than Detroit. But I also think the Jays are better than both. And yet either could beat Toronto in a best of 7.

I have a slight preference for Seattle because of Cal Raleigh and PST.
 
From what I've seen Phillies fans are mostly mad at Turner/Harper/Schwarber for not showing up and Rob Thomson for some questionable management throughout the series. As a Phillies fan I'm simply traumatized and would have rather seen a walkoff grand slam than whatever that was. No one will feel worse about it than Kerkering though so I feel bad for him.

They will forgive him the next time that the Phillies win a World Series.
 
The Dodgers are terrifying and the Brewers have voodoo not dissimilar to our own and arguably stronger.

Would prefer a voodoo-off with the Brewers if I had my choice though, at least they don't have championship stink.
 
I want the Dodgers for peripheral reasons, but I feel like they'll be the better matchup anyway.

Milwaukee mowed through everyone this year. Would love it if they lose this next one and take themselves out of the equation.
