Been to California a ton, pretty fantastic fresh produce but not Italy level tomatoes, IMO, at least not absolutely everywhere. Just my experience though.
I read that the nuclear accident in Japan a few years ago has eventually contaminated the soil in California and trace amount of nuclear waste can be found in wine and other produce grown in California.California and most of the Mediterranean delivers the goods. IF Ontario enjoys one of those hot, sunny summers (hasn't happened in a while), you can get reasonably close.
