He doesn't have the power of the printing press than his American counterparts do. Nobody wants Rubles, all he would be doing is setting off a hyper inflation bomb in his domestic economy.

When America prints more dollars, the cost of condos in London, Paris, Toronto, etc go up. When Vlad even has a dream about printing a couple more rubles, the price of bread in Moscow triples.

I question how much repression he really can get away with there. The domestic angle for why they put up with him is that he "rescued" the country from the broken 90's and restored order. The Russians will trade quite a lot of freedom for order, but how much?

1) NATO is not killing Ukranians. That's on Vladimir Putin.

2) He's mincing words when he asks for a "no fly zone". What he's realistically asking for is NATO to get into a war with Russia.
