It works in sports too. When fans show their displeasure by paying $300 for a jersey and $500 for a ticket to the game, just so they can toss that jersey on the ice in disgust, it has zero effect. Only when people stop buying those $500 tickets, start breaking things, and show up at the GM's doorstep with pitchforks and torches do things get done.

This happens in the soccer world all the time. A team manager will have to meet with their team's "ultras" and explain himself or maybe his car blows up the next time he turns the ignition.

Fear is a wonderful motivator.

There's a bit of a problem built into this though. Russia and Ukraine both keep pretty detailed, more or less up to date maps of air defence and electronic interference defences and they both have a really good idea of what happens to their ordinance if it loses communications passing through certain parts of their route. Russia has been using this specific corridor for months and knows when EO disrupts it's drone (especially particularly stupid drones like Shahed's) that they'll just continue flying into Poland. Instead of choosing a different corridor, they continue on and blame Ukraine for jamming the drone instead.
 
Just to put it out there for anyone interested....

Eastern Finland has few roads, lots of lakes and is more or less impassable for armor and infantry. Finland has never stopped taking the Russian threat seriously and has a trained war time reserve of 870,000. At the time of the invasion, the Ukie military was 290K (despite already being more or less at war since 2014). Finland's military, minus the drone scale up, is more or less on par with the force Ukraine currently has after years and 100's of billions in assistance. Similar amounts of armor, similar amounts of arty. Finland's a bit more modern throughout though but obviously not battle tested like the Ukies. If it's not already happening, it would be extremely fast and easy for Ukie advisors to have the Finns producing huge amounts of FPV drones and operators. The Ukrainian blueprint on that is amazingly low budget and scalable.

So even if there was zero Nato push back, Russia doesn't want anything to do with Finland. At the absolute minimum the Swedes would get involved and of all of the small European nations Russia shouldn't want smoke with, it's the fucking Swedes.

Also...to add to my current post. If Russia wants to fuck with Finland, the time to do it is now...today.

They have 64 F35's on order and the first deliveries and training are supposed to be happening right now. The plan is that 4 units get "delivered" to Finland that stay in the US this year for the Finns to train on with American trainers. I can't find confirmation that everything is on schedule, but that was the delivery schedule that as of late last year was on track. The roll out is supposed to continue into 2026 and the first certified Finn pilots go home to newly delivered units to form the first air wing of F35's that is ready to go while additional finnish pilots go to the US to train. Training times can vary, but all of the Finnish pilots would be certified on the F18 already, so it's not like trying to take Ukie pilots who flew migs and sukhois their entire careers and dropping them into it.

By mid to late 2026, Finland would probably have enough F35's active to basically ignore Russian air defences in the region and assert aerial dominance, go behind the lines to knock out Russian air defences, and allow for their entire air force to get involved in the type of multi role fun that the F18's were built for.
