OT: WWE/MMA/Boxing Thread

A few hours away. My picks:

Poirier > McGregor
Wonderboy > Burns
Tuivasa > Hardy
Kunitskaya > Aldana
O'Douchebag > Whoever the last minute replacement is
Condit > Griffin
Pereira > Price
Hall > Topuria
du Plessis > Gilles

Poirier v Conor
- When was the last time we saw a version of Conor that looked like world championship material? Against Eddie in 2016....that's a long, long ass time ago. The last 2 top fighters he took on smashed him relatively easily with minimal fuss.

Wonderboy v Burns
- I don't even know if I believe this, but I'm entirely on Team "Wonderboy deserves another title shot". We find out if Burns is actually a savage and future title contender or a product of light competition (Gunnar, Maia, & the corpse of the Woodley isn't exactly the toughest road to a title shot...) on his way to a flash knockdown and then getting fucking dominated by Usman.

Tuivasa v Hardy
- I almost want to check to see if Hardy is on the last fight of his deal or something. This feels a lot like Dana giving him one more shot to creep into the rankings picture before cutting him.

Kunitskaya v Aldana
- I honestly don't care. There are women's fighters that I have grown to enjoy watching(Rose, Wei li, Nunes, Shev, Andrade) but there is nothing compelling about "can we build a bit of heat so that Nunes might sell a few dozen PPV's the next time she beats the brakes off of someone". The answer is probably no.

Sugar Sean v Boxcar Willy
- Until further notice Sugar will be known as Sugar Sean Venom Page'Malley. He's a can smasher for now. A can smasher who looked like a ranked fighter against Vera until he broke (again), but a can smasher. This fight changes none of that. Still only 26 so lots of time to prove himself, but I remember when Mike Perry was 11-1, young and supposed to take over before losing to everything resembling a ranked fighter put in front of him.

Really stupid fight for Conor to take (I’ve never been a big fan of his) - but he will likely lose a lot of respect from fans when he gets KOed again to run his mouth. Should have looked at straight stand up guys that are more aged but still respected. One win in like 5 years against a has been - Dana also is a dumb dumb to waste conor’s future $$$ ability by booking this.

The real event for me is the Burns/Wonderboy fight. Wish this was five rounds - think it will be a fun one to watch.

I dunno, I don't think McGregor's got many fights left in him anyway. The UFC tried to push reaaaaaal hard for a Khabib-McGregor rematch that would have made a ton of money. Outside of that & the Nate Diaz trilogy, I don't think there's any real fight that would have made more sense than the alternative.

got put him up against Jesus too - would have done that, then nick, then Jesus II

Think he makes more $$$ with nick or Jesus - both more popular

Nick just fought though and Masvidal just got murdered by Usman. I don’t think there’s any reason to wait around for either of those guys when the iron is hot with Dustin

Conor has one win at Lightweight in the UFC, he can't be fighting Welterweights.

Not to mention, when the Poirier-McGregor 2 fight was made, Nick was in limbo and Jorge was fighting Usman. Plus, I don't think Nick Diaz will ever be an option, it's Nate's fight.

Jorge-McGregor would sell a shitload, but Gamebred would murder him.

Price - Pereira is about to start. My darkhorse fight of the night.

Niko Price isn't the most skilled, but he doesn't know what a boring fight looks like. And Pereira... He's an interesting one.

I love watching Price. He’a a madman

I don't think Dana picks Conors opponents, Conor kind of fights who and when he wants to because above all things, Dana is a whore for money. This is probably Conor's 2nd last fight of his career anyway. Lose to Dustin and then a 5 rounder against Nate in the winter and then ride off into the sunset with his whiskey and a massive bucket full of money.

not sure why ur writing this? Was responded to him doing the fight tonight for $$$. This likely is not the fight that makes him the most. Was my point

Nate would be interesting too - good point. Could try both brothers :)
