We just want to see the fights between the actual good fighters.
The thing with Aspinal is, he finishes almost everyone so quickly that there's no way of knowing how good he is. Maybe he's the next big thing, maybe he's just hype, but I want to see him fucking fight. Not only has he beat everyone put in front of him, but he's finished everyone relatively quickly. He wants to fight Jones, he wants to fight Stipe, but the UFC's put him on ice. There's a good chance both Stipe & Jones retire after this fight and those are fights we'll never see. If that's the case, just give Aspinall a fight with Gane or Pereira and let's get this shit moving.
The problem with Stipe isn't him, per se. The problem is he's getting a title shot while being completely undeserving. He hasn't fought in literally four years and he's probably beyond cooked.
Since Stipe beat Cormier to become champion in August 2019, there have been:
-Stipe - DC 3 August 2020
-Stipe - Ngannou 2 March 2021
-Gane - Lewis August 2021 (Interim belt)
-Ngannou - Gane January 2022
-Jones - Gane March 2023
That's six title fights in 5 years. There's no other division in MMA, excluding women's featherweight, that has such a glaring level of inactivity. For comparison, Alex Pereira's fought for the Light Heavyweight belt four times since November 11th 2023.
