Parenteau to be bought out

I didn't think they'd do this. If this was done to sign Belesky then I hate the move. Just say no.

If it was done to acquire a real #1 winger like Skinner then I love it.

Won't change the narrative much, will mean that Therrien effectively ended his career. Apparently Parenteau now says he hopes to stay with us. Translation, my agent called 29 teams and no one wants me.

Getting rid of PAP to make space for Beleskey is a fire-able offense.

It's scaring the shit out of me that the Sportsnet goon Kypreos was talking about that.
 
Aside from a few SO appearances, I can't even recall what PAP did all year.
 
Me neither. He just had such minimal impact.

This is one of my problems with looking at analytics only. Analytics say that PAP isn't that bad. His points / 60 minutes played is good, his corsi isn't bad, etc, but when you actually watch him play, he's a nightmare.

See for me it was a bit of the opposite. I didn't think he was that bad, I often thought he was making his line better simply because he had some patience and creativity with the puck and was not consistently getting rid of it. He was weak on the boards but that wasn't a surprise. So I'm not exactly surprised that the analytics were in his favor. But ultimately it was the traditional metrics that failed him, he simply didn't produce enough. His goal scoring abilities in particular were abysmal. Nothing else would have matter if he had been able to convert on his chances but he blew way too many occasions.
 
PAPs game doesn't fit the "chip & chase" system of MT. Not that he's some great talent, but whatever offensive contribution he was capable of making was thwarted by the system incompatibility IMO.
