Playoff GDT: Round 1, Game 3 Canes @ Sens 4/23 7:30

Let's be honest, if the Sens trot out a game 4 lineup without Sanderson and Zub as your top pairing D all season and with metrics that show they were a top 4 or 5 D pair league wide all year the chances are not good for the Sens and the Canes absolutely will and should exploit that loss. It's bad enough to lose one top D let alone two. New Jersey battled that last year vs the Canes and then the Canes had that misfourtune vs Florida too.

The NHL and their player safety keystone cops brigade have done far stupider stuff in the past so I do not think anyone can rule out anything crazy and dumb on the Hall/Sanderson play.
 
I mean, dumber stuff has happened but DPOS has slapped a $5,000 fine on guys who have done a hell of a lot worse than accidentally drill a guy in the chin with their shoulder. If it had been an elbow, maybe …

And honestly, while I don’t like to see good players get hurt in the playoffs, the Canes have played PLENTY of post season games over the years with minor league scrubs on D. It’s a part of the game.
 
Sure, Travis. Let’s start applying that standard right now and see how long Cousins, Tkachuk and Grieg last. None of whom would listen to you if you asked them to dial it down, BTW.
 
Sanderson is out with a concussion. So why did he play several shifts after the hit? Reminds me of Aaron Ward in 2006. I thought we had protocols to prevent that stuff from happening again.

Sucks for Sanderson and the Sens. And I’m sure Hall doesn’t feel great about it either. Game 4 could get ugly. Paging Nick Deslaurier.

If Ottawa wants to win even one of these games, they need to stay away from the goonery and just play the game as hard as they are able to. But if they want to ramp up the goonish behavior, then they deserve to get embarrassed.
 
Zub is out too. So we’re going to hear the same whining from Green that we still hear from Ruff about 2006…we would have won but all our dmen were injured

The Sabres situation in 2006 was way worse and they might’ve won if they had a full d corps. The 2026 Sens aren’t the 2006 Sabres.

It’s not gonna stop the whining though. Especially since Sanderson was taken out by a “dirty” hit.
 
Maurice was instructing that kinda stuff for sport three straight post seasons with great success and two Cups to boot and the league was almost admiring it from far…
 
BS on the Sanderson concussion. It's his hand. They're fucking lying. They're setting the grounds for a dirty game 4. I'm so sick of hearing about the dirty hit today. I've seen 10x worse in nearly every gane I've watched this season and playoffs.
 
Now the Sens owner going off on the Hall hit.

“One should have control of their body the same way they have control of their stick,” Andlauer wrote in an email to Garrioch. “It’s ridiculous that you get four minutes for a high stick to the face that draws blood, but only two minutes for a direct shot to the head that draws a concussion.”

Sounds like he needs to go off on Bettman and his cast of clowns at Player Safety instead of Bruce Garrioch. You can watch that clip 20 times and still come away saying there is far worse most nights.
 
I've never seen an entire franchise blame their shitty play and failure to show up, on a hit they have done 100x worse on a nightly basis. They're simply laying the groundwork for 60 minutes
headhunting session Saturday. I hope Brindy suits up Deslaurier.
