Playoff GDT: Round 2, Game 1 Canes v. Flyers 5/2 8:00

The Sens games were a lot more entertaining. I hope Philly will up their game or this is going to be a short series.
Why I say hope is so I can stay awake more than anything.

Fun game last night and shenanigans were to expected when Philly was struggling all night.
I’ll be interested in seeing what adjustments Tocchet makes and how PHI responds. I am reminded of all those playoff adages:
“One game doesn’t make a series. ”
“It isn’t a series until you lose at home.”
“We’re taking it one game at a time.”
“It’s a game of attrition and inches matter.”

Hot Garbage Sports was saying that the last part of the third period was all about Philly setting a tone for game 2. Bait, bait, bait. Get the Canes to retaliate and take them out of their game.

Yeah, it’s Caveman Hockey 101 and Tocchet is nothing if not basic. The only surprise was Zegras participating in the nonsense. Blake must have gotten all the way up his nose for that little twerp to start taking cheap shots

Honestly, it was nice to get that one out of the way, but Philly had nothing last night. They took the entire game and around 3 minutes of empty net time to finally generate one whole expected goal. And Carolina is good on defense, but not that freaking good. Maybe it was just fatigue, maybe not. They did get a full rest day between series, and that’s more than a lot of teams are gonna get this year. I dunno. They didn’t really seem to have much of a plan last night.

Either way, it’s nice to see that he’s still got the same grip on reality that he’s always had.

Serious question … why does anyone pay for such obvious and hokey schtick? Somebody at ESPN has to know that he ripping them off, right?

Yeah. Poor Mess hasn't had an original thought in 10 years but at least he’s trying. The thing is, ESPN has two REALLY good studio guys doing play by play (Buccigross) and color (Ferraro) because they’re too cheap to pay for on site talent. They’ve got their best reporter (Kaplan) doing on site stuff during games too. It’s just such a shabby operation.
