The series shifts to La Belle Province (no, not the fast food chain)

After a rousing OT win, the teams are back to level, although the Habs have snatched home ice. The Canes limited the Habs to just 12 shots on goal, with 7 of them in the 3rd and none in OT.

Home ice hasn’t been kind to the Habs, they’re 2-4 at home, only winning game 3 of each series.

TNT for TV, Mike and Tripp on radio, John Forslund on national radio.

So, having shaken out the cobwebs and forgetting and then remembering how to play transition defense, the Canes hope to settle into a more normal rhythm in this series. Hit the road, looking for a split but hoping to take both. They tend to simplify a bit on the road and that usually leads to less of a frantic game, but Montreal seems to like the chaos so this one could be a test of wills early on. It’ll be interesting to see how St Louis plays the matchups. He got a bit defensive in the post game when asked about that, after Brind’Amour shifted gears to put Staal’s line on Suzuki’s line. I suspect that he’s more comfortable with that line matching up with Aho, but we’ll see how they roll in the 1st. I still think that matchups are way less important in this series than execution. Case in point … both teams’ depth lines have had scoresheet impacts on relatively simple plays. Everybody seems up for the moment, which generally means the games come down to isolated sequences here and there.

Should be fun … let’s go.

Sounds like Montreal may swap in Veleno for Kapanen on their 4th line. That adds a bit of experience and grit at the expense of talent. Kapanen was very good against the Canes in the regular season but had been pretty invisible in the first two games, and that line made some mistakes that Carolina was able to pounce on. With Veleno in, Montreal might look to muck it up a little on 4th line shifts, which is … fine. The series had been blessedly shy on nonsense, but that’s kind of inevitable this time of year.

Puck drop will be at 3AM where I am, so I'm hoping to wake up on Tuesday to good news!
So Finland? 2 am for me. I need to get some sleep now because I will not be able to get any sleep after the game. 😩

I will probably not get much sleep before either because I'm getting a bit nervous now. Lets hope for a good showing.
