Playoff GDT: Stanley Cup Final Game 2 Canes v. Vegas 6/4 8:00

Just got back and am so hyped up, it may be a while before I go to sleep. About midway throught the 3rd period, I was sitting there, head in hands wondering is Vegas that good, or are we just completely flustered? Then Stanky's incredible puck possession and goal changed everything. The barn exploded and the team play turned 180 degrees around. I missed whatever it was that Torts was complaining about, but I did hear part of his TV interview and he probably had no more than 3 or 4 words to answer every question. Love it!

Anyone else want rally towel fuzz investigated for being a health hazard? I swear that shit is all up in my nose, eyes, throat when I get back home from a game. Used my bathroom faucet like an OSHA eye wash station last night 😀

Had to watch the highlights this morning to make sure this really happened. Boy, do I wish I could get the Canadian Sportsnet feed for this series. Those folks really know how to call a game. Vegas being forced to play with 4 1/2 D was key, you could see Hanifin and the others gasping for air. Freddie, God bless him, he comes up huge at the end there on Barbashev. Did Torts just poke the sleeping bear that is our power play?

I still don’t understand why the goal was waived off. What exactly was the interference? Was it the Knight poking at Freddie or them pushing him back? You see guys poke at the puck under the goalie all the time and I don’t recall it ever being called interference. And then there’s the issue that the whistle sounded before the puck went in. Why wasn’t the goal waived off because of that? And if it was, why would Torts have been allowed to challenge the interference? None of that made a lot of sense.

I think it’s all a wash anyway. If we don’t get Staal’s goal, then Vegas doesn’t pull Hart and we go to OT anyway probably.

I think that Vegas was challenging that even after the whistle, the puck was still in motion and that motion took it over the goal line? In THAT case, then even if the whistle blows before puck goes over the line, it can still be a goal.

Risky challenge, glad it went our way.

I think they said he pushed it in. You can poke at the pole to squirt it loose but you can push the padding over the line. I think that’s what they called but I’ll admit I didn’t hear the explanation

I think you’re right that was the goalie interference portion that they called, but Jordo jumps on top of Freddy which was what appeared to help jar the puck loose. The part I still don’t get is why not just call it ref lost sight of the puck and the play is dead. Do reviews include sound bites as part of the process on those types of plays? It’s hard at times to even decipher when the ref blows it dead vs the puck crossing the goal line on those plays like that.
