That 3rd line was unplayable. So was the fucking 4th line for that matter. All of the fucking character, grit, determination, leadership that Dubas brought in was shit tonight and we lost the special teams battle because our power play has been broken since fucking February and nothing has been done about it.
 
I wanted to see a more offensively minded lineup before the Tavares injury anyway but now it’s absolutely a necessity. We have more skill up top and can match Montreal for depth so no idea why we needed a “shutdown third line” anyway. Playing right into their hands - Tavares injured, third line offensive black hole... shut down Matthews’ line and get some good goaltending and you’re set.
 
Marner was awful. And he was the one guy who needed to redeem himself after the Columbus series.

think I'm the most disappointed in him after a top 5 scoring season.

now we get to listen to the same old narratives and bullshit again until Saturday.

1 of the 3 did. If our game plan is for 3 guys to carry the offence every night and win a cup, that's a terrible fucking plan.

You need, need depth scoring. Absolutely fucking need it. It's not an option to not have it.

Should’ve really added the most talented forward available at the deadline.
 
Btw...overlooked goat horns for the game is whoever's decision it was to keep Sandin out in the 2nd half of that PP. Kid had already been out there for 1:15 and was clearly skating in mud in that foot race with Byron. If we stopped having this weird idea that Rielly isn't one of the best PP QB's on the planet because our coaching staff broke the fucking PP, and that was Rielly or even a fresh Sandin in that foot race, it goes down differently.

The PP coaching fuckery is a gift that keeps on giving.
 
How do you take a team with a generational goal scorer, maybe the best playmaker in the league, a 50+ point dman, and a ppg guy who's capable of potting 40...and come up with this PP.

ITS NOT POSSIBLE.

It's statistically harder for this PP to be this consistently bad, than it is for them to occasionally accidentally be good.

Hey I wanted hall too but when they take up the majority of the cap... Yeah, I expect them to produce more than they have in the last six playoff games.

But yeah I wanted Hall too. They don't have them and they don't have much else up front.

Even aside from that though, we kinda gudpro’d the shit outta the rest of the lineup. Your best players definitely have to be way better but you make it pretty easy for the other team if they only have to concentrate on two guys.

I've been saying it for months. Manny Malhotra is the reverse Midas. he absolutely needs to go this offseason.
