Poll: Habs > Leafs > Roughriders > Blue Jays

How rabid is the CFL following in Calgary or Edmonton?

I honestly don't know a single person who gives two shits about the Argos.

Terrible.

Think of the Riders as habs/montreal...and Edmonton/Calgary as Ottawa. It is true that the Riders are the only option. I do not think I have ever met somebody from Sask that isnt a Riders fan.

Argos are pretty much known as the Panthers of the CFL.

Do not forget to count half of Alberta. :p

Either way it is quite impressive what the Riders do.

Any of my family events are like "Hey how are the kids?...now what about putting in *random 3rd stringer* for the 3rd down gamble?" Then if there is time we talk habs. :)

As someone who has spent a fair bit of time in Edmonton and Calgary, I don't see the "half of Alberta" you're talking about, and those 2 cities make up 2/3rds the people in the province. I'm sure they're a big deal in Lloyd, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, etc....but after spending the last 6-7 years in the western part of the country, I just don't see it.

2009 Grey Cup in Calgary....home game on the road. And yes that is the endzone that the kick/too many men thing happened.

Apparently Rider fans do this every year. Join the end of the grey cup parade. - Edmonton Grey Cup

Yes...because I literally meant half.

Btw the other half is from Newfoundland.

I know in Winnipeg the Bombers are fairly popular. You see a fair bit of hats, shirts ect... but it's probably like a 1/4 of what you see in SK for the Riders... maybe less.

Western Canada CFL is very popular.

I miss having two Roughriders in the CFL. I loved Martin Short's bits about watching a Roughriders/Rough riders game.

I've run into a sea of Riders jerseys a few times in downtown Toronto (when their team is in town) Never seen that same concentration from a visiting team, including Yanks and Bosox.

That's probably being generous too.

Hell, they can't even find a stadium to play in.

Toronto will eventually get an NFL team. It makes the most sense. It's a stronger market than half the existing ones. NFL in Toronto would explode.

Of course, L.A. doesn't have a team so they might be first. The expansion fees will be ridiculous though.

Five key brand metrics were measured including first brand that comes to mind, their level of respect for team brands as well as their perception of the most loyal fans, team popularity and stadium atmosphere, Caceres said.

Shocking.

It's interesting because people around the NFL like Mike Florio actually think the NFL just uses LA as a boogeyman to scare local governments into accepting sweetheart stadium deals in fear of the team moving to LA. It's not like people in LA don't watch the NFL, they just don't have a local team. Seems to be Trojan territory anyways. London seems to be where the NFL really wants to go.

Pretty sure Ari Gold is bringing a team to LA.
