Before we declare 92 useless at 5/5 could we first allow him to play with 14 and 13 ? Because playing him with the linemates he's been given is setting him up to fail.

There's a reason why Laine is better on the powerplay aside from having a man advantage. It's because that's the only time he gets to play with Suzuki and Caufield.

Let him play on the top line with our two best offensive threats. If he still fails THEN we can declare him to be useless at 5/5. Not before.

Slaf was also useless on the second line with Dach, just saying. The fact that Laine had more assists on that line than either Dach or Newhook is very telling.

You dont hire Rembrandt to paint your garage and you dont sign Laine to play defense. He's there to score goals. Give him linemates who can create space for him to work and who can get him the puck.
