Summer 2015 Transfer Thread

Don't really get that one. Ings had a rough old seasons at Burnley despite a promising career arc to that point. He certainly didn't look like a Premiere League striker though ... so Liverpool grabbed him for what? Depth? A guy that age needs to play.

For the record, the age cutoff for development fees is 24 and Ings is only 22.

Not sure I would say he had a rough season. 11 goals isn't a bad return for a first year EPL player on a team that got relegated.

He is a better option for Liverpool at this point than anybody they currently have that isn't named Sterling for a central striker role.

Fair enough. I just hate to see big budget clubs soak up still developing young guys and bury them. We've seen that WAY too many times lately.

Totally agree, and if I thought Liverpool were about to spend £30mill on a striker I would be worried. Don't think they will though so he will be at worst 2nd choice behind a striker who stays fit once every 3 or 4 seasons.

Especially on a club that only scored 28 goals all season.

Considering they cant sign anybody to replace him this summer this almost had to get done for Barca.

Sami Khedira will join Juventus on a free transfer from Real Madrid on 1 July, the Italian club have announced.

The Germany midfielder, 28, has agreed a four-year contract with the Italian double winners and Champions League finalists.

Khedira on a free is a heck of a pickup assuming he can get back to anywhere near his best.

Vidal was being linked with Real Madrid the other day, letting Khedira go and replacing him with Vidal kinda makes sense.

I don't see much Italian football but Vidal is more of an attacking creative type than a holding sitting midfielder right?

Just wondering where he fits into that Madrid team, if Benetez is going with a 4-2-3-1 setup would Vidal be suitable as one of the 2?

Guess team needs or where to play a player has never really concerned Madrid in their transfer business

Vidal is that rare hard man, holding midfielder who can do something with the ball when he joins the attack. He also plays at breakneck speed and high intensity. He and Khadira basically do the same things ... Vidal just does them better and with more snarl. And a stupider haircut.

I know one thing ... the Falcao we saw play for Man United this past season wasn't even 25% of the player I've seen play for Columbia and Atletico Madrid. Anything even resembling a return to form could pay HUGE dividends for Chelsea. This guy was the most dangerous striker in the world just a year and change ago.

I wonder how much of it is related to his surgery? He was back on the field in about 7 months, pretty quickly for an ACL injury. Theo Walcott took more than a year to get back to where he was pre-injury.

Chelsea are gambling that he will back to fitness next year, that kind of injury (specially for somebody who has had similar injuries before) can be a 2 year cycle before you get to real fitness

Stoke City have completed the £5.75m signing of striker Joselu from German side Hannover 96.

The former Spain Under-21 international scored 10 goals in 32 appearances in 2014-15 after joining Hannover from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer.

Southampton have signed Spain forward Juanmi from Malaga on a four-year deal.

I think Adam Bogdan on a free from Bolton is an upgrade for Liverpool in the back-up keeper stakes. Ings and Milner were cheap, but not sure how the squad sees them both fitting in. I've seen a few LFC boards suggesting a 4-3-2-1 with Milner partnering Henderson and Can as part of the three. But like you said, I'd rather he play up with Coutinho in a more advanced role. We'll see.

As for the "crazy rumours" part, Zlatan, Carlos Tevez and Jackson Martinez for starters. Yeah right. Recently, keep hearing alot about Benteke, Nathaniel Clyne and Mateo Kovacic. I'd be happy with the latter two. Not sure Benteke is worth the price they're asking.
