Summer 2015 Transfer Thread

Morgan Schneiderlin is headed to Man U for a fee in excess of £25 million.

Will be interesting to see how United are going to shape their midfield next year. The lack of striking options makes you think they are going to go with 5 midfielders but I cant really figure out how to line them up considering there are 11 of them that could play.

In a central role you now have Schneiderlin, Carrick, Schweinsteiger, Blind & Herrera

In the attacking roles you have Mata, Depay, DiMaria, Valencia & Young

Oh yeah and Fellani to fit in somewhere.

The Mirror reports that former City players Scott Sinclair and Micah Richards talked him out of moving to Manchester.

Makes sense ... especially from Sinclair's point of view. Richards was there when the big money influx happened so it at least took a little while before he got replaced with somebody super expensive ... and foreign. Sinclair went there on the heels of two brilliant campaigns for Swansea only to never see the light of day for THREE years. He played a grand total of 13 times for City over three full seasons. Pitiful and I'm sure it didn't help his career development as he wasted the time from age 23 to 26.

Some of these guys have to start waking up to this stuff eventually, right? I mean at least Chelsea and the other big money clubs give a guy a chance. City just buries you without a nevermind.

I read somewhere that now City are chasing an 18 year old from Fulham. For them, it's all about chasing a "homegrown" player for UCL purposes. But guys like Delph and others are pointing toward Euro 2016 and you can't impress Hodgson from the substitutes bench. It's the same reason Podolski left Arsenal; Low told him he needed first team soccer to be considered for the Euros. Realistically, the same could happen to Walcott or Welbeck or both at Arsenal, with all the midfield options Wenger has.

Winger Stewart Downing is close to completing a return to Middlesbrough after West Ham gave him permission to speak to his hometown club.

The 30-year-old will have a medical examination on Thursday before meeting with chairman Steve Gibson, BBC Tees Sport has learned.

WTF, I mean seriously WTF??? He was West Hams best player for most of last year, why are they letting him leave and why is he going to a Championship club?

I'll go with "because he's Stewart Downing." By all local accounts he was the least likable teammate in the last decade at Aston Villa ... and that's saying something given some of the churlish and selfish monsters we've trotted out lately.

ESPN is reporting that Liverpool will trigger Christian Benteke's release clause of £32.5 million.

The Telegraph reports the Jonny Evans is close to a £8 million move to Everton.

Younes Kaboul is off to Sunderland.

And Downing to Middlesbrough is complete for £5 million.

All kinds of buzz that the Delph transfer is back on. Good thing he came out and said he was definitely staying.

Spurs fans think the Benteke transfer is an opportunity to dump Adebayor on Villa, as Sherwood still rates him, but Villa will do far better spending the money on a Delph replacement. [edit: because I think the intangibles will be worth more than they'll get from City.] If they have enough left at the end, maybe they could get Ade on a free, but that's still a poor way to spend 100,000 pounds a week.

The Manchester Evening News reports that he's in Manchester for a medical.

It's a done deal. City tweeted out pictures of their equipment guys putting his name on an 18 shirt.

And .... he's dead to me. Completely dead. Deader than Felaini is to Everton fans.

Well, it's not too late to get a bid in on James McCarthy.
