Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle. I hate it so much. Digne is still here and academy product and lifelong villa fan, Ramsey, is on a team I hate. I'm finding it very hard to get excited for the season.
Yeah, that one is 100% on the FFP regulations. That's 40 million pounds of clear income and that's just too much to pass up when you constantly live on the ceiling of what you can spend. And hey ... maybe this opens up space on the senior club for Hemmings.
Considering how little Emery has played younger players, I wouldn't hold my breath. More likely, it's just to clear up room to bring Asensio back. I really like Asensio, but this sucks.
I'm very concerned about the lack of a long term plan.
Personally, I'd love to have Asensio back, especially if they can clear the space to get him on a permanent deal. Bailey should be sold to Roma shortly, so maybe that's enough. I'm not missing Rashford because he looked good but never really found his finishing boots ... presuming he still owns such a thing. But having Asensio to add to a healthy Buendia would be nice.
I'm not saying I don't want Asensio. It's more that I feel like this change in philosophy over the past year is not great long term. All of a sudden we're making Stevie G moves instead of the long term moves we made to start the Emery/Monchi era. I still feel like long term is more important than winning now and we need a base of financial stability. I also saw a rumored transfer fee of 20 mil. Our only offer should be a free transfer that gets a contract they want off their books off of their books.
