Tech Thread

am I the only one getting a full blast stream of right wing politicians and transphobia on twitter right now? Oh, you follow a few dozen political reporters who follow Republican congress/surrectionists to do their job? Perhaps you would like to see all of their fucking douche tweets now?

This feels like a few years ago before youtube fixed their algo when you were never further than one click away from being bombarded with a wormhole of conspiracy theory videos and Jordan Peterson.
yeah it's really fucking annoying me now too. I am trying to change how I interact with my feed to deal with it.

current plan is to turn notifications on for folks I follow and simply use the notifications as my feed, unless yall folks have better suggestions.

and funny enough, no matter how many times I tell twitter I am not interested, fucking elmo keeps zooming to the top with his inane nonsense.

when a tech company becomes a fucking tool to assuage an immature billionaire's ego.

I don't remember if it was you or zeke who said Grimes broke Elmo, but I am coming around to that line of thinking.

Click "Lists", then "New List" in the top right. Give it a name, make it private (so it's locked for you personally and not a public list). Then start adding people you want to follow, it will give you suggestions but you can also search.

In future, if you come across a person you want to add to the list (or remove), click the "..." to the right of their username and "Add/Remove from Lists".

You can then view the list to only see people you've added to it. I have a few different ones for various topics. Though I'm with Leafman, haven't really noticed much has changed, other than when I click the "Home" button there seem to be a few more "You Might Like" options sprinkled in there.

I would recommend adding every single account you follow to at least one list, but usually more than one. Then just pick the List you want to look at at that time, like Sports or Leafs or Politics or Money or whatever, so you're always looking at a curated List. Or use tweetdeck in a browser (even on your phone) and look at all your lists at the same time:

Bonus: ZERO ads of any kind.
