Tech Thread

I'm guessing the main mistake was probably basing CEO bonuses on sales targets or company-wide revenues vs. stock performance. There is inherent conflict in both scenarios (Engineering-CEO fudging numbers to increase the bonus - vs. a finance-CEO destroying a company/brand in order to create short-term shareholder value).
 
It's such a weird, uneducated take that these guys keep trying to push as if gothic & baroque architecture were the pinnacle of civilization that is perfect in every way and everything should look like that.

One of the best bits about contemporary architecture is that no single style is dominant. There are examples of neo-everything that go up and win awards.

Yale built new dorms in 2017 and wanted to maintain the general aesthetic of their campus which had a lot of gothic styled buildings already

I wish these clowns would stop pretending it's about the architecture or building big impressive things and just admit it's about their jesus and wanting women back in the kitchen.

The pics that they use for the old architecture always try to make them look epically huge.

Just give them a side by side with most any decent new building to show them how massively more impressive the new stuff is.

It’s also much easier to BS your way to the top of finance circles than it is in engineering or other hard sciences.

The best tech CEOs are the OG founders or guys like Tim Cook who are well versed in both engineering and finance
 
Yeah I mean it’s not tech bros there - it’s Chinese kingpins needing an outlet for their money that they can’t flaunt in China.

And Laos is wild. One of the strangest, most beautiful, law abiding and lawless places in the world.
