He didn’t because he knew that every Canadian that lives outside the Toronto-Montreal corridor would scream bloody murder about the tax dollars being spent on the project.

Same reason why no other future PM will do it either.

nah. people who complain about government spending have no shortage of things to scream murder when it comes to JT
 
When have Tesla share prices ever borne any relation to objective reality?

The price of Tesla shares and its total value as a company have always been little more than a bellwether indicator on whether a critical mass of investors are still true believers in the cult of Elon.

And with his full-throated turn on democracy and embrace of authoritarianism & Trumpism, he can probably count on the Chinese & Saudi Arabians to help prop up that share price, if need be.

5-10 years ago, I think there was actual hope with them. They were over-inflated, but definitely felt like "the future of the tech" or whatever BS they were spinning. I don't get them anymore - I had shares, and sold in the 2020-2022 timeframe, and haven't really looked back since. Ever since that spike over 400, they just feel like they should crash and burn at any moment, but they keep bouncing back despite everything.
