I was gonna say despite the overhype and hallucinations, I use ChatGPT multiple times per day and my fave part is the ad free experience… I knew the ads would come eventually….

Yeah, I use it fairly regularly as well. I used it to build a custom javascript photoshop automation last week. It was difficult to work with because it kept making code that didn't work and blaming me for that, and I had to know the automation tools in Photoshop pretty well to be able to walk it through debugging it's code to make it work, but I don't write any fucking code at all and within 90 minutes I had built a script that does 90% of what an expensive subscription tool I had been using was doing for me.

That's kind of the core "problem" with it. It can do some pretty fantastic stuff, but you already have to be knowledgeable enough about the subject to work it through the whole thing, know or at least have a clue when it's lying to you, etc.
 
Yeah… if you’re not knowledgeable it won’t work or worse, you won’t know when it’s not working and you’ll be guilty of sharing pure crap.

I trust you guys that you find real value in it but man i've had mostly horrendous experience with it.
 
You have to prompt it the way you would instruct an idiot on how to perform surgery. My prompts are generally a few paragraphs long
 
Not that it was necessary, but I took a small prompting class through Coursera (I think it was 4 classes * 2 hrs). It’s free if you have a Toronto Public Library card (also free)

Imagine it like Google on steroids for better and for worse. My wife has her own business, is pretty fascinated with her speciality but hates a bunch of the admin stuff (booking, social media marketing, etc). It took me 10 minutes on GPT to design a bot/tech stack to automate out most of her specific pain points. Could I have done that without GPT? Sure, but it would have taken hours of going through websites, YouTube videos, etc

Everything wrong with Google (you still have to know what a good search result is vs bad) is wrong with GPT.
