Tech Thread

I feel like there is a great opportunity here for another platform to rally some support and make a play to become the new Twitter 1.0.

especially with all the tech folks currently looking for work.

yeah… not wanting to work 80hrs/wk shouldn’t be cause for dismissal

in any case, you’re hired

Not only work 80 hr a week, but do it while writing a ton of incredibly high level code or be fired anyway.

Everyone with any sort of talent is going to take the 3 months and walk. Elon doesn't get it. With SpaceX and Tesla he was first to market, anyone who dreamed about doing that type of work basically had to suck it up and put that level of effort in. Elon was the only game in town if you wanted to put shit into space or build future cars.

Twitter is a big platform and an important one, but most of these Engs/Devs/Archs can go do the exact same type of work for any one of the 100's of tech/web companies based in SF. Shit, if they really want to work 70-80 hrs a week under significant pressure, they can go work for any of the 100+ start ups burning VC money and offering equity. Why are you sticking around Twitter?

Ya like who is going to want that gig? No Board, just reporting directly to Captain Hardcore and the Saudis.

Larry David is also being sued as part of this lawsuit. Not exactly an endorsement, though...

It's funny that he got sued for saying he's NOT into it, but obviously he got paid to say that, in an ironic twist.

Lesson here, don't associate yourself with fucking bullshit no matter what the angle or the payoff.

I have a client who pissed me off like crazy a couple of weeks ago. Had me sit in on a total bullshit ponzi scheme presentation where he was considering "investing" $150k. I told him after that it's a joke, a securities violation that he'd be buying into, and that he's almost certain to lose all his money, get bad press, and possibly calls from the SEC. He then promptly "invested" $300k despite a LONG email where I spelled out for him in a hundred different ways how this can only end in loss of funds and unlimited legal downside. Today I texted him the link to the report about those celebrity lawsuits and he forwarded the link to a group text to them with the simple caption "damn".

I’ve mentioned on a few occasions in the past couple of years that I’ve never convinced myself to pull the trigger on investing in crypto because I’m convinced that in general, crypto & NFT’s are just a massive Ponzi scheme that’ll eventually collapse and leave a whole lot of poor suckers holding the bag.

Feeling better and better about that position all the time these days.

Yep. I did some mining a bunch of years ago, which struck me as the only way to play the game with little to no risk. Still hold a wallet with some stuff in there that I'm holding for the fuck of it for 3 more years. Sold the hardware for 90% of what I paid for it eventually.

But I took my tokens off of the exchanges as soon as they were mine. The whole structure was so obviously sketchy.
