Ah, took a bit of hunting because I think it was in one of Parts 1-6 but I guess this is what they're up in arms about?

Is it just me or does this seem actually fairly unexpected though? Law enforcement always has relationships with private companies/social media for emergency disclosure requests - Bell, Uber, Facebook, etc. If someone calls 911 from a cell phone screaming, if someone threatens to kill themselves or others on social media, etc etc.

as per usual, the actual evidence contradicts the reported claims.

see:

"It might be helpful to get a sense of the reasons we are denying their requests"

I'm warming to the idea of Elon as being a sort of foreign agent with a nefarious agenda. He is continuing and amplifying dotard's mission of, essentially destroying truth and objective facts.

I don’t think I buy the idea that he’s a foreign agent carrying out some coherent strategy on their behalf.

I think he’s just cut from the same cloth as Trump when it comes to his malignant narcissism, need for attention and adoration and as far as his relationship to the truth.

And like Trump, I don’t think he has any time of day for democracy and has also figured out which group of people in America will more freely and easily give him the fealty and adoration he craves.

Yeah, this squarely falls under the "don't attribute to malice what you can attribute to stupidity" type of feel. Elon is just answering the question "what would happen if the formerly richest man on earth was a man-baby".

I dunno, I don't feel like stupidity rules out anything malicious either.

Feel like a lot of people did that with Trump for a while too.

Him palling around with the Saudis and Kush and the pro-Russian shit does get some alarm bells ringing.

I do think Peter Thiel is his Wormtongue. And since Elon took the red pill, he only listens to people on the right. The problem is much much worse than I would have EVER thought.

Also, this schmuck is no genius.

There's a reason I changed my sig recently. 80% of conservative outrage is one of them finding out how things work in the real world.

We're talking about a platform that has had an ongoing problem with combatting child porn, terrorism, hate crimes, etc on their platform. But we're supposed to be shocked and angry that they're working with law enforcement and that there's a program for law enforcement to reimburse the company for the time they spend on fulfilling requests.

yep exactly right.

The emergency disclosure requests we dealt with were typically like... woman calls 911 screaming for help that she's been kidnapped, can we get an emergency ping? (yes, exigent circumstances) vs man has just beaten the shit out of a woman and left her house, now we're trying to find him (no, investigative, get a warrant). i'm simplifying of course - a lot of them are murky/not so cut and dry. I would imagine the EDRS the FBI would want to know would mostly deal with online threats and whether they are exigent or investigative and yes, they'd have a TON of meetings to talk about the grey area of these.

I don't see what that'd have to do with Hunter Biden at all.
