Rask is .923 this year, but only better than .915 in one of the previous four seasons.
Holtby is .904, .911, .907 the last three seasons and won a cup in one of them.
Vasilevsky, who I think is probably the best goalie, is rocking a .908 this year after posting .920 and .925 the prior two seasons.
Bobrovsky, fresh off his $10m contract is at .899, after only posting .913 last year. He’s been above .920 only twice is the last five seasons.
So what’s not to like about Freddy’s consistent .917/.918 the prior three seasons and his .914 right now which has dipped because of the recent down streak? If you take away all the names mentioned today and just look at the numbers, isn’t Freddy the best, especially considering he sees more rubber than anyone because, let’s face it, we aren’t exactly airtight in our own zone. He’s never leading the league but he’s also never shitting the bed like some of the others do in one or two seasons out of five. He’s kind of awesome, and we have to forgive those blips where he’s not amazing.
