The Fucking Season Thread - Redemption Tour '22

yeah in that case, that seems most likely. unless both he and the team want some term and he takes a cut on the AAV to make it work...

Which I don't see us wanting term either with a bunch of skill kids inching closer and closer to the show. Robertson is allegedly going to make it through a month without a near death experience one of these years. Amirov will escape from Siberia, etc.

If we keep one of these randos we picked up it will be bunting on a "fuck it, I just want to be a leaf" deal

It'd be fantastic to be able to get through the whole WJC without Covid getting in the way because I have a feeling Knies will be a revelation...

We're going to QO him, he's going to take us to army, he'll get a 1 yr arby award in the high 2's, we dump mimsy to afford it. He and Kampf leave in free agency after next season.
This made me laugh because it reminded me of how Buster Bluth, when asked what he did that day, would say he "went to army". Like a kid would say he went to school.

I could see them being interested in keeping Kampf around. Think Keefer is quite a fan...

They would love to keep a lot of people around, but there's only 1 yr left on Auston & Willy's deals at that point, Lilly & Sandin will be into RFA deals, and Jack will be on his extension still I imagine. We're really better off not getting attached to (m)any of these cheap fill in guys who are going to get tons of attention here in expanded roles and cash in on it when they hit free agency. If they play well enough that we want to keep them, someone else will probably be willing to offer them more money than we can.

That, and so much changes year to year, that it's impossible to look ahead to these secondary guys any more in advance than when they expire.

What if Robertson, Amirov, and Hirvonen are all ready to step in next year and make an impact or at least show they belong? You likely aren't going to be keeping Kase around at $4M in that event.

That's why I'm kinda like who cares about the Kases and the Kampfs beyond what they're doing this year?

The only one I'd actually be interested in long term is Bunting actually, and only if it's a bargain, and only if he looks just as good as this next year at this time.

The Nerd has said publicly that part of the whole "we can and we will" plan was that management (read: him) basically has to pull rabbits out of hats every summer to fill in the roster well.

He's done pretty well so far on that front....

Overall.

Or maybe the Stanley Cup winning goal in OT.

But starting to feel like all the laughing is going to lead to some unexpected outcome because it has been a hilarious situation.
