The Fucking Season Thread - Redemption Tour '22

I always find it weird that there's not more acknowledgement about how different it is for a C vs W in terms of goalscoring.

Center goals per game goes Mario-Auston-Gretzky.

Yep, and Auston isn't out there cheating for goals. He's never the 1st forward out of the defensive zone in transition, and he's usually the first one back in defensive transition. He's out there playing a legitimately fantastic defensive game, while being a historic level goal scorer.

I don't think the league has ever seen this before...closest I can think of is prime prime Fedorov.

yeah even if you want to criticize his defense you still can't say that he's not deep in our zone backchecking always, and never leaking out cheating for offense - always the last forward out of the zone.

I'm with trujays. Can't figure out why he'd even want to.
If you make an investment like this you either absolutely love the team or you envision being able to double your money in 3-5 years.

Nothing suggests he has any strong feelings towards ottawa.

From an investment perspective the price would likely factor in the new TV deal revenue so that wouldn't drive asset growth, investment cost vs return on a new arena would drive some growth but how much. Ottawa really is screwed with the largest employees being the government and them not being able to support the team.

So the Mikheyev-Tavares-Kerfoot line seems like it's kicking ass - 61.9xgf%, 80.7gf%.

On the other hand, the Engvall-Kampf-Nylander line is not - 47.1xgf%, 0.0gf%.

and while Blackwell imo has been good none of the 4th line combos is working very well.

I wonder if when Kase comes back it might finally be time to move Kampf down to the 4th line.

Mikheyev - Tavares - Kerfoot/Engvall
Nylander - Kerf/Engvall - Kase
XXXXXXX - Kampf - Blackwell

with XXXXX being any of Simmonds, Spezza, Clifford, Knies, Robertson, Abbruzzese, Steeves, Anderson.

lol yea that was the next thing he said

It took 6 years of putting nothing other than Leon around Connor for anyone anywhere to even mention the possibility that Connor might ever play a game in another jersey. We can't go a few months without Auston allegedly leaving us for the scrubbiest backwater markets in the league though.

For literally just one year.

This is unique. He’s on another level. He does everything well. Everything. There is no weak aspect to his game. That’s why when he goes cold in the playoffs it’s beyond puzzling and frustrating.

Yeah, if this is his prime and we see some iteration of this from now until his early 30s, he's flat out generational. Same kind of tier as Crosby, McD, etc. A legitimate all time great. Type of player we haven't had in Toronto, ever.

Could it have been his wrist being so baffed that it caused him to be comparatively incompetent

He was ok last night. Not great, not bad. And yet he could’ve easily had a hat trick. If the guy just gives it 100% every shift, he’s almost as dangerous as Marner.
