Man there's a lot of good things going on so far.

Yes and Babs has been a miracle worker thus far.

Still, I wanna see that 5vs5 Possession number improve a bit more. We should be over 50%.

Leafs' minutes leaders under Randy.

Kessel 14/15: 45.9cf%, +0.7rel
Kessel 15/16: 51.2cf%, +3.9rel

Bozak 14/15: 45.8cf%, +1.0rel
Bozak 15/16: 50.0cf%, +1.2rel

VanRyk 14/15: 44.6cf%, -2.3rel
VanRyk 15/16: 56.3cf%, +7.3rel

Phaneuf 14/15: 45.2cf%, -2.7rel
Phanuef 15/16: 49.2cf%, -1.3rel

Randy's system destroyed the possesion numbers of his big minute players, and destroyed their value in the process.

The possion numbers have taken a huge dip since the beginning of the season, so hopefully they can maintain the 48%. I believe they've been closer to 46 lately, but with this roster I will gladly take 48%.

Looks like Bernier's likely to get the start tonight.

Garret Sparks was at Leaf practice this morning in place of James Reimer.

we are ****ed.... No reason to watch Leafs game today and seems like I gonna watch Marlies to lose

Sparks has officially been recalled from the Marlies.

Scott Harrington has also been sent down, presumably as an on-paper move to make room for Sparks on the roster. Though with the Marlies playing three games in three days this weekend, who knows, maybe they get him into a game down there.

Lupul - should it be a surprise? ;)

Babs really threw Bernier under the bus after the WSH game and it's no surprise he finally starts Sparks on Monday. I think it's a combination of the poor outing by Bernier, and probably the fact he felt our team played pretty well against WSH and deserved a better fate.

They played pretty well in both games against WSH...though, I can't remember who was in goal the first game.

Yep. I stopped watching after 2nd as it was too frustrating seeing us dominate them in possession, shots and pretty much every other stat and have them get some weak goals the other way. If it was just one bad goal ok somehow i'd forgive, but man he's had way too many of these. I backed him last season because he was pretty good imo but this year he's sucked balls. Reims should get the nod for most of the games once he gets back. His rebounding is still a problem but at least he keeps us in games and that's all you can ask really.

One thing you can definitely credit Babcock for is that the goalie position is a pure meritocracy with him in charge.

He did start out trying to force-feed Bernier starts, since he's the guy management signed to an extension. But he was pretty quick to toss him aside when it became evident that James Reimer gave him a better chance to win games at the moment.

And then when Bernier didn't capitalize on the other guy in the crease getting injured like Reimer did, he's wasted no time handing the reins over to a guy who's done everything you could ask of him with the Marlies this year.

^ This is how it should be. It does suck that we paid Bernier 4 mil that we'll have to move in a while, but whatever. Hopefully Sparks can ignite some decent gameplay, and if not we are still a bottom three team in a league where Auston Matthews is an excellent consolation prize...

In hindsight this probably turns out to be a brilliant move by Babcock and Co.

No way someone can get three shutouts in a row (AHL or not) and not come back with a ton of confidence.
