The Mental Midget/RC/Dolt thread

They team survived his bad lineup decisions in the middle of the series. Still mind-boggling that Beaulieu didn't play until game 6.

I don't think there's many coaches in the NHL that would have felt comfortable inserting a rookie dman with 15 NHL games experience into a game six vs the best team in the league.

This isn't exclusive to Therrien

40 should have been in the lineup the last 2 months of the season. And not dressing Briere in the playoffs, which is why we signed him, was just dumb.

Yeah these are the type of things that drive me nuts about Therrien.... but all's well that ends well. He hasn't ****ed up bad enough to cost us a series yet this year... kudos for that.

This I can agree with...same can be said for Tinordi but I have to put the fact Nate was sent back down on the GM and his assistants like Lapointe and Brisebois who are in charge of player development. I doubt MT gets the final say in who gets sent back down

I disagree. Nate is WAY ahead of Tinordi, IMO. Tinordi repeatedly makes bad decisions with and without the puck. Nate is way more poised than Tinordi at this point.

What's unfortunate is that Tinordi was doing really well last year in the playoffs

It's ironic that Sal calls Nate "shit for brains" because Nate is much smarter on the ice than Tinordi.

All that proves is the brass screwed up by taking Tinordi in stead of Coyle.

Brisebois was part of the D that won the last Cup, didn't do much else for the rest of his career, shit for brains will be no different (in character or performance) - all that matters in the present is winning now, and am glad he's played well & the coaching staff have managed his minutes accodringly.

No way the Habs win the series if Therrien didn't finally pull Murray for Beaulieu.

My thinking is that he finally buckled to pressure from his assistant coaches to insert Bolo.

For such an awful coach, he seem to motivated the troops last night to get them to fight back for the win in regulation. You could see a change in the way the team played after the game was tied up again.

He doesn't look like someone who has the lost room. The players seem to be still completely bought into his system.

Our defence is probably as bad as Toronto's, the difference is Therrien realizes it and makes his forward play a system that supports his defence. He has adjusted. I'm not saying he is perfect and adjusts to everything in game because his style is the bigger picture. Will that win us a cup, probably not but this team isn't a cup contender, so he does his best to maintain his job and win with a system. Could he manage players better, yes but every coach could make improvements.

I don't even like him but the players believe in HIS system and its getting us results. Those are the facts.

I said it almost 2 months ago, it was evident that MT had.the.team buying into his sytem and.that they were playing for him, I don't understand how he's done it but he has everyone bought into this team.

or Bergevin finally acquiesced and stopped ordering him to play Murray

There was a sequence yesterday when Beaulieu took the puck up the ice (so fast), dumped it in the corner to the left of Rask, and continued to skate towards the puck and got there first in the corner....WOW

He might be a defensive liability, but that's stuff that you can teach him (defensive zone positioning)......

But you can't teach offensive talent...and this kids has lots of it

I agree but you assume he made the decision in a vacuum. Bergevin wouldn't let him play Beaulieu until it was obvious he should play.

My God!! Some of you are making it sound like MT is a complete incompetent...

He's not my ideal mold of a coach but I'm able to give someone credit when credit is due....the guy is doing a good job coaching this team

I don't always agree with his lineup decisions (but then again, every coaches makes some weird lineup decisions. I was reading an article where Sutter was getting lambasted about his Kings lineup) but you have to give him credit for having the team well prepared and disciplined about buying into his concept, which is a way more important part of coaching than getting your lineup right (even though that's an important part as well).

The Bruins act like a bunch of entitled brats. From the coach down. How can anyone be a fan of that?
