The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

Sadly, most likely we’ll never find out because there’s no real incentive for the whole truth to come out….plenty of incentive for continuous multiple narratives, though

If it's really about the power structure then Kyle Dubas completely wasted everyone's time saying he wanted to be here, having his agent negotiate an initial contract, and then threw his family in the public discourse for... no reason at all?

That would be the same board that hired Lewicke, Masai, and Shanny and let them stay as long as they wanted.
Too bad we don't have the Canes owner who put a cap of 500k on the GM position and lets anyone who won't work for min wage walk, this seems to be working just fine for them.

Lewicke hired Masai and Shanny before he left.

From the article
>>>>I worked at MLSE under Leiweke and remain very close with a few people who remain at MLSE. Leiweke leaving set off a chain of events that likely led to Friday’s debacle. MLSE had a culture under Peddie and Leiweke, and many have felt that Michael Friisdahl’s appointment as the CEO was the decision of the telecoms. Regardless of successful teams and profits, sources said the turnover rate and unhappiness have reportedly increased. They also said many company programs were cut, learning opportunities and culture builders that were key under Peddie and Leiweke reportedly disappeared. The board became far more involved in team-level decision-making with the Leafs, Raptors and Toronto FC. One wonders if that was the reason Tanenbaum intervened to save the company from losing Ujiri a few years ago.

” I’ve seen quite a few names in the rumor mill, and I’m not sure any of them are better than Dubas. From a hockey standpoint, there will be arguments.

From a human standpoint, Kyle Dubas led a forward-thinking, positive culture.

The salient point. The Dubas slant in reporting is because he is nice. Not because of the job he did building a winner.

Quinn got he exact opposite treatment. Because he choked mother fuckers.

Don't really believe anything right now, kind of a cesspool of conflicting info.

It's interesting though.
But it does kinda add up.

Dubie was starting to trade off skill for plugs. We saw that at the deadline.

He seemed to go beyond the rote "I'll do whatever makes sense to improve the team" in his presser and very much gave the impression he was going to break the core.

Shanny hired Dubie to build a team of skill with the help of his nerdies, and now Dubie was buying into the Keefe blueprint.

And even with all that, he still trusted Dubie to figure it out, until Dubie went completely off the reservation with the presser and demand.

I don't think Shanny wants any of those guys moved unless it's a clear kick you in the nuts kind of rip off that you can't say no to. I'm sure part of this is Dubie losing his way and Shanny fearing he'd piss away talent the likes of which we haven't had in decades.

Who the fuck is Rachel Doerrie and why the fuck does she believe her opinion means shit?

Don’t have to believe her (hence why I prefaced it as grist for the mill) but she did work at MLSE under Leiweke

I just read that article - doesn't really say much tbh, just links to The Athletic article and says that should raise alarm bells.

I don't think Crosby would waive anyway, unlike Tavares he had Habs sheets and comforter.
Eh, end of his career and never really played or tried to bolt for the Habs the way Tavares did for the Leafs, I don't think Crosby would have any loyalties anywhere, other than to maybe just finishing up in Pittsburgh, even as part of a losing team.

The part I found interesting is that since Lieweke left the decision making process has become more convoluted as Bell and Rogers bigwigs flail around without a strong Lieweke character keeping them in check.

She might be just loyal to her old boss tho….

I just asked who she was since i've never heard of her and have no idea what she did or is currently doing, also why she felt she needed to add her 2 cents.

Yup

He's not going anywhere and the only place I could see him doing a last year swan song is Montreal to get the jersey on the wall. That's only if he's sentimental, most aren't.

Feels like it would tarnish his legacy for a cheap thrill.

Same way Sundin made the terrible decision to go to Vancouver. Though in his case you could chalk it up to cup chasing, which Crosby doesn't need to do.
