The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

So he hired the Lou, Hunter and Dubas 3 headed monster and then just did the GM role himself? Why would Lou go for that?

If Shanny indeed was "running things" or had a lot of say, I would suspect that it happened a bit later in Kyle's tenure. Doubt he stepped over Lou or even Kyle initially. I still don't think that's the case but I think the way Kyle GM's in Pitt and how Tre GM's will either add credence to the theory or make it less likely.

I think the Kampf price is too long and too rich but… it’d be all the same staff who liked Kampf while Dubas was here that he’d be leaning on for advice so… kinda does make sense. Don’t think it = Shanny terrible meddler at this point.

Yeah I'm pretty confident that's a deal they would have made with or without Kyle. The organization loves him.

If you want to read the Kampf and Holmberg signings together, I kind of take it as they're going to have the vet for the first bit while Holmberg gains experience, and if and when Holmberg is ready to take over, they have Kampf with term left (which other teams apparently covet) who they can trade for something.

Even if he sticks with the team, and even if he sticks at C, Holmberg won't be taking over Kampf's matchup role anytime soon.

Holmberg is 24. If he isn't an NHLer yet, forget about him. They should give him all the opportunity in the world but I'm not sure I'd just hand him a spot. Let him battle for it.

Looked like an NHLer to me. And to Keefe - "he doesn't do anything wrong"...but I just won't play him.

He was fine, yeah. Not a Kampf replacement tho. And not a 3c either. So I guess on this roster you give him some wing action and spot C duty in case of injury.

He’d be my 4C until further notice.

I just don’t know what the fuck we’re going to achieve with Kampf as 3C.

I mean as it stands right now, Holmberg would be the bottom 6 C getting all the offensive zone starts and Kampf would be the one getting all the defensive zone starts. So it's up to you which one you'd call the 3C and which one the 4C.

that's if we don't add any other Cs.

Hometown discount according to the Athletic

Kämpf and his agent J.P. Barry were eyeballing a cap hit of $3-$3.5 million on the open market.
Among the comparables, in terms of cap hit, they saw for Kämpf were Brandon Tanev($3.5 million), Barclay Goodrow ($3.6 million), and Colton Sissons ($2.8 million).
