You made up alot of this.
Or at least no one could tell if you did

I’d bet money on LTIR. We know how Pridham works. He left exactly $3 mill to sign Sammy if Murray is on LTIR. He ended last year injured and has been on LTIR most of the last 3 years.

Some mirtle notes in a rather doomsdayish article https://archive.ph/wVAH6

So, with that limited wiggle room, it’s possible the Leafs could be largely “done” reshaping the roster.
Possible, but I wouldn’t say likely.
The biggest complication is likely going to be the William Nylander situation. They’re not exactly close in negotiations, and the gap feels wide enough that it could force a trade

I’ve long thought the contract that Filip Forsberg signed last year in Nashville — eight years at $8.5 million a season — was the right comparable for Nylander. Up against an $87.7 million cap, the likely 5 percent increase for the 2024-25 season, Forsberg’s contract would equate to a hair over $9 million a season.
I don’t mind that number at all, even if Nylander is going to be well into his mid-30s on that contract.
But, by all accounts, the Leafs want something smaller, that starts with an eight. And Nylander wants something higher. Possibly a lot higher.

Really need matthews to sign first and hopefully not to maximize his value like some rumours have noted. That could put Nylander in-line and marner next year.

This entire cureent cap situation likely started with JT leading the way before we signed everyone and then seeing the 8 figure #. Need our real leader to take a cut for the team until he has his cup then do what he feels like.

One thing I don't get is that if all they'd get for nylander are futures, why not just keep him as a rental? Why trade him for peanuts when he's the type that they'd typically trade for at the deadline? Would suck to lose him for nothing but at this point, unless you're getting Lindholm back, I don't see the market for him. So just keep him.

Murray was practicing with the team and was declared fit to play before the Leafs were eliminated. So he didn’t finish the year on LTIR.

So unless he’s decided his career’s over, I can’t see him being willing to play ball with the Leafs when it comes to just sitting on LTIR and not playing next season.

I’m curious to how we are making all these moves with Murray still with the team. He was healthy enough to play last year in the post season right? Don’t we need to dump him?
Worst case is a buyout and I think that only carries a ~650 cap hit this season.

If you move him now for futures you could sign kane/tarasenko or both to fill out the roster.

Add a 1st and a good prospect or two for future moves.

his body has been failing him for years. It’s not up to him. See Lupul.

all signs point to LTIR.
