Fuck... I thought we were the real champs. Shit.

Congrats

eh. I like the players to show some personality.
He literally sounded exactly like Trump. Read the transcript in a Trump impression.

Absolutely no respect for anybody who isn't on his team or support his team. It's exactly like Trump.

Whatever... I'll just sit here and enjoy my sour grapes.

I do too, but having some class, especially after having just lifted the Stanely Cup, and showing personality aren't mutually exclusive.

That is of course unless the person is classless, in that case...we should be ok to criticize them for it.

Foligno should sign a two year minimum deal with us to make up for this fucking travesty.
do we even want him though? maybe I'm biased because he was injured etc but he looked fairly useless. recency bias for sure, but he is not exactly fleet of foot. we need to get faster again...

Almost rioting?
And didn't the "riot" consist of a handful of fans flipping a car and getting gassed? Stupid yes... A riot? Not so much.

1a : a violent public disorder specifically : a tumultuous disturbance of the public peace by three or more persons assembled together and acting with a common intent

Yes Ray, a riot.

Think I’d have more of a problem with it if he didn’t just win back to back cups after playing at a 112 point pace in those two runs. If you’re ever gonna dunk on another franchise, you’d better fucking back it up on the ice and… I kinda feel like he earned the right to be drunk and talk shit.

Anyhow, congrats to Habs and Habs fans for what will be a memorable time in your lives.

I do however, stand by my, and others', takes that this run will do a lot of harm to the organization for the next decade. My advice for the Canadien organization:

Solid post...but I disagree in this case.

Usually a delusional run will cause a GM to bring the "gang back together", but in this case, the gang was coming back regardless of what happened. What choice does Bergevin have?

Price/Weber are in the middle of long term deals.
He extended Petry and Gallagher 12 months ago (and their new contracts kick in next year)
He invested new money in Anderson, Edmundson, Toffoli.

If a few of those guys were pending free agents, then I'd agree with your premise but those decisions were already made.

Bergevin is guilty of wanting to have his cake and eat it too -- keep all the solid vets and hope the kids step up (Suzuki, Cole, KK, Romy)

I'm not a fan of this middle of the road strategy but it started before this run even started....and once the Habs beat the Leafs, there's no way the Habs would fire Bergevin.

After beating the Leafs, the rest of the run was pure gravy and causes no additional harm going forward.

I would say yes it's ridiculous but calling out a fanbase based on a some goons who take advantage of an event, on the first question after a Stanley cup win is also ridiculous. Focus on your own team and fans. If he is specifically asked for it, he should speak against the crowd acting as they did but again shift focus to his own team and fans. I just didn't find it too classy and I'd like to think the Stanley cup and privilege of winning it should dictate a more classy celebration.

It was odd of him to come out swinging like this after having just lifted the Stanley Cup.

"some goons"

Montreal riots, it's part of their charm. But they get to own it. They rioted when they made the finals, and they caused enough of a disturbance to injure 4 cops and get tear gassed over one win in the finals. If that isn't earning roughly 7 seconds of scorn in a press conference, I'm not sure what does. It's not like he droned on about it, he just drunkenly called out ridiculous behaviour as ridiculous behaviour.

HAHA. Nice try but there's zero proof that Kuch cared about the injured cops (he didn't mention them at all). He simply didn't like that Hab fans celebrated excessively.

If you want further proof that Kuch is an idiot (or drunk or possibly both), listen to the same clip where he goes on a Vezina rant, emphatically stating that Vasilevskiy "stood on his head and kept us in the game tonight". HAHA. If the Habs had any scoring chances last night, I must have missed them.
