The Motherfucking 2021 Season Thread

Couple things:

1. Dubas said he'd trade top prospects but not for a rental. Said there are conversations going on for guys with term and that's the only way he'd trade any "top tier" prospect.
2. He is likely pumping his prospects to the media. He's not trading Robertson and probably not even Sandin. He's probably referring to second tier or low end top tier guys that he is pumping as "top prospects". No sense in calling them second tier prospects when you're trying to acquire players with them.
 
he said he would trade top prospects if it was a "significant deal". that means not a rental. Dubas is not trading Robertson to get Getzlaf at this point of his career. come on.
 
I'm surprised it's taken this long to pull off a trade. That 7-day quarantine news must have given some breathing room.
 
Here's my hot take.....

I think the leafs will pull a Tampa with Freddie and if he's not moved, they will ltir him and keep him as the third option come playoffs like kucherov.

Get a Ullmark or someone else and come playoffs have Freddie If still here, be the third.
I think Dubas saw what happened to Colorado last year and does NOT want to have Hutchinson as the third.

If that happens, the goaltender situation is perfect. 1A Campbell 1B Ullmark or Dreidger Taxi Andersen
 
I'm liking Laughton more and more. Despite getting literally zero PP ice time, he's still a 20/40 guy, which is legit very good even strength offense. And he does this in a very defensive role with heavy dzone starts. Where he breaks even analytically and is a net positive on the scoresheet. And he does this while playing lots of center. He also brings nice physicality. He's prime aged and very affordable.

Not really a name there I wouldn't be pleased with tbh and none will require parting with the big 4 prospects I'd imagine.
 
thought maybe that's the whole list now? 7 names? Palmieri would have obviously been on there too. Getzlaf and Staal might have snuck on the bottom as last options.
 
All about the price. Kyle may not be picky either and just may take the player on the team that's most interested in the prospect that the Leafs are most underwhelmed with and fine with shipping out. Or a 2nd rounder or whatever.


They could deffo use one of them though. Kyle knows this of course.

i'd lay money on the blues catching the coyotes for that last playoffs spot though. 3pts back with a game in hand. and given their playoffs history you'd never count them out of a playoffs series, either.
 
I guess rakell would be on there too but given he'd be more expensive and cause seattle complications he'd be lower on the list.
