Yeah but guys like Hedman josi Carlson etc aren't actually all that good defensively.

Thing I care about here is that we finally have a legit elite analytics top pair. I don't know if we've ever had that in my lifetime.

Adding Brodie is a huge part of that obviously but it's also helpful that we finally have a 2nd pairing that can legit take the matchup heat off that top pair too.

Yup. I don't care about the analytics - Brodie is an almost mistake-free dman in our zone. And I can't get enough of his messing up opposing 2 on 1s.
 
Brodie is 68th among defenders in points this season, a whole 3 points behind Faulk & Spurgeon, 4 behind Cam Fowler.

So it's not like he's an offensive black hole or anything, even for a top-pairing defender.
 
Not like he fires rocket launchers off shin pads when he tries to pass either. And tbh if he did I doubt his metrics would look so great defensively. He does everything I want my defensmen to do and tbh his skillset is more unique than a d with offensive talent.

Is it just me or has Engvall not been too great lately? I don’t mind him being the odd-man out here, especially after a couple of days off for the oldsters.
