At minimum, 1 of 2 this season. At minimum, 2 of 2 next.
The Sens are adding two top 10 scorers from the last complete season, as well as Milan Michalek and Bobby Ryan.
If you are expecting their atrocious shooting percentage and pop gun offense from last year to continue, you are in for a rude awakening. The Sens were 4th in the NHL in goals scored in the last full NHL season.
Compared to last year's half season, the Sens offence is about to explode.

aaaand you're expecting player's never known for their defensive play to execute the Stache's system like that group of plugs you had in last year did, while receiving at minimum .920 goaltending from 2 goalies who have never actually done that over a full NHL season. You people forget that Craig Anderson has never put up higher than a .917 in any season he's played more than 31 games in.

Honestly, from an outsider point of view - dont see why you would want Spezza to be the "guy". Doesn't seem like a type of guy you'd want to follow into battle with. Immature and comes off as an idiot when he talks. Can't take him seriously.

I used a loose methodology behind my selection based on the player and the scoring trends of offensive defenders. Not random.

What is "random" about looking at the player's statistical profile, and looking at similar player's historic statistic profile and providing a guesstimate based off of that? Again, you simply don't know what random means, if that's what you're calling random.

Well our D isn't great, but if everyone stays healthy I think it will be good enough.

I actually thought the Sens had a pretty solid off-season. Getting ratface (albeit unintentionally) out of that dressing room and turning the leadership over to their younger generation should be a big boost to the team. Bobby Ryan was a solid addition. He had a down year last year, but had four straight 30 goal seasons prior to that. Clarke MacArthur's a heady player and a good depth addition that they can count on for around 20 goals and 45-50 points.
As for where they'll finish, I don't see them mounting any kind of serious run at the division title. They've got an iffy group of defensemen and uncertain forward depth (which can be a problem, with Spezza and Michalek being injury time bombs). I do think they'll make the playoffs, but unless they can get .940+ goaltending again and don't have any serious injuries to anyone, they won't be challenging for home ice or the division.

Yeah, you have plenty of depth NHLers and AHL fodder, like Greening, Conacher, Zibanejad, Smith, Condra, Neil, etc. that can adequately muck about at the NHL level in MacLean's system. But they won't be able to step up for you much when Spezza and/or Michalek eventually suffer injuries that cause them to miss a decent chunk of the season. Pageau could potentially help in that department, but I suspect that time will bear him out to be the next Lonny Bohonos.
