These insiders are just so dumb. The most likely result is that he’s traded imminently. The Leafs have to be able to grab UFAs before they’re gone and need to know if they have Werenski or not. They can’t sit around and let everyone get signed and then not wind up with Werenski.

The fuck has Toronto done in 59 years? Come on now. Just because corporate Canada moved to Toronto doesn’t mean it’s a Mecca of hockey. It’s more a laughing stock really.

You haven't lived in the country for so fucking long that you're just out of touch. Come to the GTA on any winter weekend in the city and just wander into any one of our fucking dozens of huge multi pad facilities. I'm in them all winter man, it's crazy.

I don't. It's the entire culture here, that's what makes it the "mecca" of hockey. The Leafs have the biggest fanbase in the league, bar none. The GTA region is home to 7-8 OHL teams, more NHL players are developed through here than anywhere on the planet and yes our youth hockey system is massive on a scale that no where else comes remotely close to. Probably 5x the minor hockey system in Montreal. It's fucking immense.

If the "mecca" was just about what area has had the most NHL success of the era, well, Florida is the Mecca of hockey and that would be a pretty fucking ridiculous statement, no?

Hockey is deeply cultural here at a scale that exists nowhere else in the world.
