The Official 2026 Off-Season Thread: Revenge of the Nerds

When I first saw that report today, I was like, an ex Hab, no thanks, even though I like Roy as a player and person, frankly.

And then I remembered that one of our best coaches ever was Pat Burns, so I softened a bit, but not enough to think he'd be the best choice.

Wasn't it him this year (or last) that pulled his goalie against us on a faceoff in his own zone? And we scored immediately. That was for sure one of the dumbest risks I've ever seen taken.
 
Zero interest in Roy.

I also think that they are purposely throwing a lot of crap out there to throw off the scent. We didn't hear about the Minny guy and Freddie Hamilton until the last minute.

Roy pulled far too many ego trips in his life as a player and as a coach. Thw islanders were awful defensively and he didn't have any problems throwing management under the bus in regards to his players. He sheltered Schaeffer well but nothing seemed to be his fault when things went bad

Saw something about Halpern being interviewed but being told he wont make it to round 2.

No Preston i dont remember where, so it probably means nothing.
