It plugs the biggest hole on the roster.

Carlo is now the only "must ditch" on the roster. If we trade him, while siging all our RFA, then we have $12m in capspace with a full roster, and if you're making more trades you add the outgoing caphits to that $12 to get the real capspace available. Also possible that Domi's $3.75m goes on ltir.


Beyond ditching Carlo, for me the priority now is adding a 2/3C. That's the next biggest hole imo.

On a personal level, I knew his dad pretty well several years ago. He would have been through the moon with this piece of news. Unfortunately he passed away earlier this year and never got to witness one of his sons getting a huge payday. They were very tight so hopefully Darren is able to push through.

I will say that if Tanev and OEL are healthy and legit good again this year, the dcorps is already probably pretty good, in addition to mobile and pretty dang fun. I don't think he's done with it tho, I really don't.

I believe that his 5 on 5 scoring per 60 numbers were quite good too, which is most important. PP merchant next to Kucherov doesn't interest me. Plus, yeah, he's good defensively.

I will say, leafs don't get enough powerplays for Raddysh to put up those point totals again. So I'm not expecting that. But if he can hang as a legit two way top pair d, well 8+ milly is market value for that. It would be nice if he gives them some excess value in the first half of the contract (i.e. if he's a legit 1 like he was for Tampa).

Watching the Marlies last night, Danford will play in the NHL next year, even if not out of camp.

So I think it’s:

McCabe-Raddysh
Andrea-Tanev
OEL/Mo-Danford

And at this point I wouldn’t be shocked if any non-Chayka D are moved out and another top 4 added.
