The Official Post-Bitch 2025-26 Regular Season Thread

You've been saying this a lot lately. Almost implying that you aren't aware of who their GM was. I'm disappointed.

I thought you guys were overeacting to Tre’s lack of GM ability due to his Boston Pizza connection.

Clearly, I was wrong on that part. And I will gracefully take the L

However, some of you seem to want it both ways. Tre was shit. Tre also signed Stolarz to a great contract that other teams are eager to trade for

I don't see the problem with that. Treliving being a bumbling moron doesn't mean every single move he made was horrible. The stolarz contract was fine. 3.75 for a tandem goalie with a history of being near the top of the league in sv%, in a 104+ million dollar cap environment is a good deal.

If I was an oppo GM and I was looking for a 1B, I'd be all over that.

The thing you have to know about stolarz is that you can't play him like a starter or he breaks. Play him in a tandem and he's fine.

Bad GMs are more than capable of lucking into good moves or even cups!

Granted, in hindsight I wouldn't call the stolarz contract a great move. I just felt it was an ok risk to take at the time. High upside with relatively low downside are the moves I want my gms to make.

Tre didn't do much of that, his whole thing is paying big bucks for bottom of the roster players. Granted, each individual contract isn't extremely high risk since the aav for a guy like Joshua isn't gonna cripple a team... It's the fact that he loads his roster with those guys. And there's no upside to any of them. At least with stolarz, if it worked out, you've got a very good 1a goalie. If Joshua works out, you've got a shit borderline low-end 3rd liner. Yippee.

Gillis + Mehta

I don't know about Gillis but Mehta seems to be the sort of GM we want.. will actually think things through and use the data provided to him. also has worked with a recent winning org.

I like dean lombardi as Pres..

experienced exec and he got a fair number of players out of later rounds (the point I was trying to make posting those graphics the other day)

I’m still not risking him being available at any capacity unless he’s my last option

And there always teams that strike out on goaltending in the summer and get desperate as the season approaches.

Or deal with injuries mid year. There will be a market for him, imo. Maybe not a huge one and maybe at not a significant price. But I believe teams would be interested in taking a swing.

That depends really...there's a whole risk/reward thing with him. If you're fortunate he's one of the best goalies in the league. If not, your #3 is your #2 for most of the year.

I think your underestimating the allure of the upside here personally. If I was a competitive team who had 40-50 game guy already, stolarz is very interesting.

Oh no, with the swede at 2, does this mean Verhoeff may drop to 5? DON'T DO IT LEAFS

If Verhoeff is who is there at the 5, thats fine. Hes an excellent prospect and probably a top pairing defender in the future. Hes just more Parayko, McAvoy etc than he is Makar, Hughes, etc.

Hes not a bum. The other 4 are just more likely to be franchise level guys. This is a really deep top 5 this year.

Important to remember with stolarz is that he's just a year away from being arguably the biggest reason the leafs finished where they did. You're not gonna get that kind of upside from most goalies on the market.

Now if he has one more year of injuries and inconsistent play, the allure of 24-25 goes into the background a bit and he becomes more reclamation projectish and Matt Murrayish. But for now, he's gotta be plenty attractive to many teams.
