K I just listened to it.
Elliotte says he agrees with Kypreos that the Leafs are leaning towards Chayka, but it's not 100% yet. He thinks they're just doing more due diligence right now, and that's the reason for the "pause". Doesn't expect it to be done by the weekend, he expects their top pick to meet with Ed Rogers before it's made official, and that hasn't happened yet.
He says a lot of the stuff on Gillis is way out there and fake news. They haven't spoken to him 4-5 times like many of have said, they've spoken to him twice. He said he has no evidence that they've told him that he's out, but the idea that he's already been hired is wrong, and things seemed to have gone cold with him at this point.
He said they're telling people that the position they're interviewing for is "head of hockey operations" and as far as he knows, it's only 1 person.

I'm mixed on White, he's a pretty traditionalist old school type by all accounts. You can't argue about Dallas' success, but how much of it was on White? Hard to know.
Burger boy was absolutely atrocious the first time around but if they have him committed to being an actual nerd this time, then whatever, bring it on? I guess? Maybe his Wendy's experience taught him how to actually manage? Idk, White might be fine but it's not really a "lean into nerdies" kind of hire. Granted, Chayka wasn't much of a nerdies guy either in his first stint. Eh. Don't love this.

With White you are betting on him being trained well by Nill. Which isnt a bad bet because Dallas is one of the best run orgs in the league that just tries to add skill consistently. On paper he is the class of the non Mehta assistants

Yeah, I think of the two... And I can't believe I'm saying this.. I'd take the risk on Chayka. At the very least, it could be fun. And think of all the Wendy's jokes. He was a 28 year old, way too green first time GM. Maybe he's just dumb and shit. Very good possibility. But idk how much appetite I have for a traditionalist GM at this point, as good as White may be. Unless they make other moves around him that brings analytics more to the forefront... Or unless he secretly likes nerdies more than I think.
