The right ideas are better than any type experience other than that small handful of people who have implemented good ideas and turned them into success. In absence of that, give me someone with the right ideas and let them run with them.

My only major concern re: Mats is that he's really unlikely to come in and tear this shitty organization down to the studs and rebuild like Gillis would have. There will be a lot of legacy gud pro group think that survives and I'm of the mind that this old school group think is what ended up causing Dubas to go off track so quickly. It takes way longer to change people's minds than it does to just change the people.

I'm gonna wait and see what the plan is, if there is a plan. If they bring in burger boy, and burger boy presents a vision and a plan to Mats about how he wants the organization to operate, and Mats gets approval from Pelley & Co to go wild, then I am okay with that too.

But at the end of the day, by all accounts they have a solid infrastructure and smart staff in place already; plenty of it still remains from Kyle's days. They just need to be utilized this time. I'm not sure a full tear-down is needed on anything but their process for making decisions. Their AGM is a nerd and they have a solid analytics team; if he's burger boy's right hand man and the guy he leans on for all targets, negotiations, etc. then that is all I can ask for. Huge upgrade on Pizza Boy Operations.


But.. We need to hear the plan. This is all just assumptions. Could be a disaster too.
 
the upside here might be they need a player and legend to calm fans down about the weirdo uber nerd they're about to hire to run the actual shit.
 
Has Sundin been in any front office hockey role in the last 20 years? Internationally even?

This seems like a PR move from Pelley.

I love Sundin but I don’t see what makes him the best candidate for a job like POHO.

I dont see Mats taking a job that requires 24/7 of his time that comes with media scrutiny

Why tarnish his reputation , he made his money and doesnt need the pressure

A senior advisor like Lidstrom who can provide advice and input on decisions in a cushy job but is not in the spotlight
 
I really hope that Sundin comes in and takes the job with Gillis and Roberts as VPs.

I don't understand that Gillis has played his way out. How could they after his multiple interviews, and it seemed that Gillis was the one that presented the Sundin idea to Pelley in the first place.

Here's Hoss's high take of the night. I'm trying to smoke less and not during the week. (The daily pick me up that has made work life bearable is microdosing psylocibin)... but tonight needed a few pulls from 187 Kush.... hence my thoughts.


Gillis was rumoured to have been talking to Pelley long before the trade deadline and was most likely telling Pelley to not let Tre do something stupid, like trading Knies.
Then he has multiple interviews and then shortly after, Sundin's name pops up.
I think Rogers didn't want any leaks and so they shelved his name and then the rumours of chyka and White etc. All while they have stated they want to throw out some smoke screens.

My Take:
They picked Gillis and its because of him that Sundin was brought in... Sundin wants to get paid, and also probably has some strong opinions... So he will take the President role, but he will add Gillis and Roberts as VP. Gillis to add his knowledge as a GM and agent, and knows personally what kind of GM he was. Then Roberts to be in charge of toughening up these guys and revamping the sports science guys... especially with Auston mathews and all of the frickin groin injuries.

Gillis and Sundin probably know who they want... and Chyka is the smoke screen.

That's a fantastic leadership group.

If the sports science team can get Matthews healthy and Cassidy plays to their strengths.. a few small moves on defense..... that's a playoff team and if healthy could use that to their advantage next year. But I'm calling a blockbuster trade deadline deal of McDavid to the leafs for McKenna, Stolarz and whatever other bullshit that is needed to please Mcdavid, but he will only be traded to Toronto.
McDavid on any team gets you into the playoffs.
