Its kind of a shame that

The FA class is terrible save for a handful
The cap going up probably means less salary dumping of quality players
Tre torched the farm to where you cant get involved in anything that does become available.

I think i would go so far over market for Raddysh, they need him so badly

Damn. I didn’t know Tre said that. Now I feel like I didn’t appreciate him enough as a rival. Hopefully he won’t stay unemployed for too long

I suspect that this exercise will be repeated in 3-4 years.

This is night and day from the Treliving hire. The media asked sweetheart questions, even the one question he faced about the Tkachuk trade was framed in a super sweetheart way.

Not accusatory at all:

"Nice to meet ya, even Kyle Dubas in his final press conference here referenced that trade with Florida as a big moment, something to be admired, a risky move, something you had to do. Can you walk us through that trade, like do you have any regrets with that trade with Florida in the final and with Calgary missing...I know Calgary had more points than Florida but still can you walk us through that trade and your thought process and your thoughts on it now almost a year later"

Could you fucking imaging how that question would have been asked to Chayka today if he had traded 25 yr old Matthew Tkachuk a year ago for 30 yr olds??

Even Treliving's answer was a loser answer talking about feeling like he had a "2 & a 3 in my hand while everyone else has a pair of aces"....Fuck face, you're the one trading Matthew Tkachuk here. The one with the asset everyone wants. Goes on about not wanting to move "25 yr old top players" yadda yadda with no one following up on why they did the bridge deal with him the few seasons before instead of signing him long term (which he was open to at the time, but wanted to get paid). It basically never fucking came up again in the Toronto media.

And then when the leafs head scout drafted danford in the first round and a bunch of other tree bitches, he was quoted as saying "I know Tre likes his d long so that's what we targeted." Even their drafts got worse and dumber under Tre, and GMs usually have nothing to do with drafting.

Long d was their entire organizational philosophy. With a side of snot.

How the media dealt with him on the way in was malpractice, and how they've responded to him since the firing is malpractice. A lot of people have shiny new opinions about the roster he built, but I never seem to see his name attached to their complaints.

They will all go down swinging for the people who give them access. Every fucking time.
