The Search for the New GM Thread

I’m glad Shanny did this without having “turned his mind” to who would replace him…that’s comforting,
 
…or maybe plan ahead?

Guess that’s tough when you axe the GM you planned all year to bring back….on a whim.
 
And I think it would be totally fair if shanahans job was on the line, too. But leaders need to be decisive and his confidence in Dubas to be the guy (and not only that but worthy of one of the richest gm contracts in the league) was shaken.

Big move could be a major add without a major subtraction.
 
Guys been patient for a decade and also was willing to look past the fact that the team hasn’t gotten under the hump these past 5/seasons.

i think people are forgetting the actual org structure here.

He did. He felt like Kyle still had the right strategy and the will to pull this off; but then Kyle went on national TV teary eyed telling people that he basically had to choose between his family or the Leafs.

That's a significant piece of information. It changes the equation.

Well firing Dubas gives the core new life. Should have been Keefe. Please tell me the new guy will replace him.

..in defiance of his boss who told him not to go on tv to avoid exactly what happened.

and shanny didn’t change course until 5 days later after more flip flopping - and a new contract demand - from dubas
