Good read. I personally think too much is made of analytics. I can see why teams are doing it, I just think some of it is overkill.

I agree with you, some people treats it as gospel. It's just a stat, another tool. It's the start, not the end of the line.

That being said hockey still has a long way to go into developing more analytic stats. They can be very useful but you will never make a personnel decision based solely on stats.
