Top 50 NHL Players

Hum, 81 points in 93 playoff games vs 114 in 95 playoff games, I wonder who's better when it matters, like say in the playoffs.

Like I said previously throw me that comparison 5 years ago and it's hands down Sid.

But over the last three to four years Toews has been amazing in the playoffs and Olympics.

Can't say the same for Sid.

The hardware also proves it...but don't get me wrong Sid is the greater talent by a long shot but Toews just elevates his game to another level and he seems to inspire that in his team

Except he's not, he's been good last years but had very tough playoffs the 3 years before that.

And yes, Crosby has not been as good in the playoffs as in the regular season, and he had an especially hard time last year.

The only reason there is a conversation as to whom people would chose is in fact post season related and the fact Crosby has done nothing in the playoffs the last few years vs Toews two cups

If Crosby had remotely lived up to expectations in post season there is no debate...but the Pens have sorely underachieved far too much since 2010.

Again, I take Crosby because I can't solely put the blame on the Pens lack of playoff success on him

But not all see it that way hence the debate

Toews first cup was 5 years ago btw, the year right after Crosby's. Seems like an arbitrary cut off year to me. If we want to talk about last 4 years, it's 1 Cup vs none. Like I said there is no denying that Crosby and the Penguins has underachieved in the playoffs, but Toews gets way too much credit given that he hasn't been that great in the playoffs himself and was actually called out during their Cup run. If anything, Kane has been a better playoff producer than him.

Using the same criterias, we could also make a strong case for Kopitar.

The only reason is because the Hawks have a better team than the Pens.

As for playoffs...you might want to check the stats.

Hell...Crosby outscore Toews the last time the hawks won the cup....and Crosby played 9 fewer games.

Outside of the only playoffs that Toews has been a PPG (Hawks first recent cup)....

4 points - 7 games
4 points - 6 games
Cup year - 14 points - 23 games
Last year - 17 points - 26 games

Toews is more comparable to Bergeron than Crosby.

In summary....Toews has been crap to average in the playoffs.....crobsy has been great to average.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...ovechkin-is-a-franchise-player-and-heres-why/

Interesting article on a poll as to which players a panel of GMs, assts GM's, coaches and players would chose to build a team around.

Amazing that Ovechkin didn't even make the top 13 nor did Karlsson

Plus, check the last piece of the article that puts Galchenyuk as the top projected point producing franchise forward if holding a draft today
No McDonagh, say it ain't so DK say it ain't so.
