Trade Deadline 2024

I can't believe there are people on hfboards advocating to trade Moneyhands for 3rd line Kakko. I rather a 1st than a 3rd liner. At least you can package a first at the draft and move up or potentially get a 2nd liner. Anyways, we need to start selling, Calgary is going to drop below us.

Trading for Kakko would be hilariously short-sighted and, frankly, just really dumb. Even if Kakko improves his play here. It's low-resolution thinking.

It would be like the Newhook trade: At face value, it's fine I guess. But the problem is, three years from now when they're near the end of their prime and looking to cash in with a long term deal, that's right when this team might (and I strongly doubt it, btw) be on the upswing and those contracts would strongly hamper this organization long-term.

Get a first round pick, swing for a boom or bust prospect and hope for the best.

They don’t have to trade him. And that’s the attitude you need to not get sold short, even if you don’t really believe it.
Money has to get traded this deadline

Get some assets and touch base in the summer if there is mutual interest

There is no way Hugo keeps him for the stretch run

You trade him before that time and cash in

Yup. Player coming back has to be in the the younger-than-Suzuki group and, most importantly, good. Most of the current forward group are duds, and some are very expensive. They gotta go.

So basically, trade Monahan for Kakko and then... trade him in hopes of getting a return similar to what we want from Monahan...?

I don't know about you, but that sounds like a perfect metaphor for what this organization seems to be doing.

If Kakko sucks, then no. Don’t make that trade. That’s silly.

But I wouldn’t shut the door on picking up a 22/23 year old player who can actually do something at the right price.

I'm not sure why HuGo wouldn't trade Monahan for either Kakko or Lafreniere (not that I think Lafreniere is available anymore as he seems to be putting it together now) We don't want a 1OA or a 2OA for the ticking time bomb that is Monahan?

Makes no sense.

I dont see Cacako as a " needs a change of scenery candidate " for the Habs

A first gives you a better option to package it for another Dach Deal or move up

Get the best deal you can get for Mony and move on

The sooner the better to avoid an injury

Kakko has been injured this season so no one really knows what he's going to be a year from now.
