Updates and Rumours from around the League

Boston had three 1sts just last year, didn't they?

I don't think we're going to trade Komarov, so I don't expect a 1st to come from there. And I don't think any of the pending UFAs individually or collectively do us any better than a 2nd at best.

But I am optimistic we'll get Pittsburgh's 1st, and I do think that Bozak will net us another 1st at the deadline.

Gardiner "I think the whole atmosphere here is different. Everyone is excited to come to the rink and feel good about ourselves."

Babcock "I think the guys would tell you that they can walk around Toronto, go into a restaurant and not have to worry about being abused."

Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge. Stamkos.

McCarron and Scherbak are probably pretty close to the price.

Yzerman could want a defenseman instead of two forwards. But I can see two recent firsts and a mid-round pick ending up as the price. This is going to be a "two dimes and a nickel for a quarter" trade.

Sure (Scherbak or McCarron) + Juulsen and a mid pick. I'd do that.

thats more value than Phoenix got for a disgruntled Kyle Turris.

But like Phoenix i see Tampa trading Drouin outside the division.

That's incredible cap management by Philly to get out from under those burdensome contracts like that, even if Weal is a meh prospect. Any word if they retained any salary in the deal?

Edit - nevermind, just caught this on Twitter:

Flyers are retaining 50% of both Lecavalier and Schenn's salaries

Kind of just seems like a waste of cap space for the Kings. I know they love size, but you figure they could have gone after something useful.

That could be a really good situation for Richards. Team with lots of high-profile players that would take a lot of the focus and pressure off of him, a legitimate contender, and as far away from the Los Angeles party scene as possible.

Being in a boring government city can only help him in that regard.

I guess this means that LA successfully got out from that contract? Never heard much follow up to that, but seems as though Richards didn't file a grievance or anything...

I'm still not sold that he hasn't abused his body to a point where he can no longer be an effective NHLer though

I'm talking about from his off-ice standpoint. Maybe he's got a little more to contribute before he's completely finished physically though. Who knows? He's not quite at a Nathan Horton level I don't think.
