If Elias has a NMC it could quickly become a Gagne like situation.
i doubt he waives to go to EDM or NYI

I don't think they can even afford Kadri ... Kadri with bonus is like $3M+ cap hit per year.

Sure, the bonus can be deferred till next season, but it doesn't look like their cap situation will be any better next season neither.
Of course, Lou can also keep kadri in the AHL until they work something out next year ... but in any case, Kadri is a non-starter for Burke.

Burke's not trading Kadri for anything on the Devils roster short of Parise. And since, as far as I know, Lamoriello isn't a lunatic, that won't be happening. I'd also be willing to bet that even if Lou has to salary dump somebody, he'll end up getting good value out of the deal.

Personally, I think the most likely Devil to go to make room for Kovalchuk is Travis Zajac. Getting rid of him would clear $3.8M from their cap, and they'd probably be able to garner some decent interest and a good return for him.
Nobody will touch either of those guys with a ten foot pole, unless Lou throws in a first round draft pick or two for whatever team picks them up. And even then, it'd probably be a tough sell. Man, I actually had no idea the Devils had those two humps signed to such heinous contracts.

Man, I'd move Elias way before Zajac if I'm Lou, if I can He's 25. Kovalchuk (27) Parise (25) Zajac (25) Elias is great but he's also 34 and clears more room.
Though the NMC might limit the value you get back.
