GDT #30: DEC 4, 7:00 - Time for the Mucho Man to go Savage

The team is a bit soft but it's not a significant issue, imo.

I'd really like to see both Matthews and Nylander learn to use their bodies better and stop the pussy shit when they see a check coming in. Marner can be excused, as he's a waif. But those two are solidly built.

It is an issue. Its fine to have the stick stills we do, which we have in spades.... but jesus.... would it be nice to see a Leaf lay a big fuking hit....youre not going to tell me that doesnt fire up a team>? beacuse if no ,then you have been watching a different game than i have for years...

We Are Soft.

According to hockey refernece, Auston Matthews is 6'3, 223 pounds...
The "average" size of an NFL player is 6'2, 245 pounds....

USE IT !!!

I'll await your apology. You guys ridiculed people like myself for daring to say Babcock was not the biggest issue with this team. Am I happy this is happening? Hell no. I said from the beginning this team needs a major personel shake up. But all I heard about was the world would correct itself once Babs was fired.
Weird, I must have missed your apology when they were 4-1 under Keefe. Of course the 7-game sample size now proves you were right since they've lost two.

You apologizing if they win the next two?

To be fair, the reason to urge Matthews and Nylander to use their bodies and not pussy away from hits is that they would most definitely be more dangerous offensively if they could learn that dimension of hockey.

Everything I have said would happen has happened. They got a temporary boost from the new coach and then they went back to their old habits. Matthews continues to be inconsistent and has now seemingly disappeared again at the most inopportune time, in addition to just being really dumb and careless with the puck. The team continues to get pushed over, continue to lose puck battles, continue to cough the puck up in their own zone and make boneheaded mistakes.

A coach in hockey makes much less of a difference than any other major sport. The fact that you guys thought that Babcock leaving would suddenly get these guys to change who they are as players is mind-boggling. Yet somebody like myself who brought all this all up from the beginning of the season is called a "boomer" or a "Don Cherry apologist".

Just admit you were wrong and we can all move on. I don't even care about their record, sample size, etc. This group just doesn't have it. It's the wrong mix of players. It is plain as day obvious when you watch them that this is not a team that will win anything.

Absolutely.... gain possession of the puck which ever way possible.,..... be it slick stick stills ... or brute force.

It was good to see Ceci play well tonight. I though Dermott had his best game in over a year. Muzzin-Holl continues to be very effective. Not sure what to do with the other two. Rielly showed some signs of finding his game tonight and that pair wasn't entirely bad.

Listening, go ahead. Move who?

Marner. Tkachuk from Calgary would be my target or somebody of his ilk. Would also move one of Kapanen or Johnsson for a winger with some more bang and defensive awareness. Maybe also get a defender who plays well in his own end and can move the puck. A guy like Barrie is nice and all, but you can't have 6 fast, skilled defenders who are all hopeless in their own end. Then move Ceci, bring up one of the kids and get a true backup.
